The word ‘mixer’ refers to many meanings. The common meaning is an electrical appliance; a device that mixes two or more components. However, this operation can be done by many home and kitchen appliances.

History of Mixer Technology

700 hundred years ago, the mixture technology was invented and it came in to practice in 1935 in with the usage of DPDT vibrator modulator in lower frequency amplifiers. In 1949, the same operation was carried out by using 6 vacuum tubes in rocket telemetry circuits and 7360 vacuum tube in radio circuits.

Types of Mixers

The technology used in mixers is used in many other devices too. There are several types of mixtures, though the meaning of term differs in various contexts:

• Frequency Mixer – It is a telecommunication device, used for transferring the signal’s frequency spectrum,
• Electronic Mixer – An electrical component that can be used to multiply or add different signal voltages,
• Sound Card Mixer – A personal computer’s audio system component,
• Audio mixing console – A device to combine, changing the dynamics multiple signals
• Mode Mixer – A telecommunication component to handle optical signals), and a
• Vision Mixer – An electronic component to mix video signals

In mechanical context, the word mixer has the following meanings

• Cooking mixture that used to mix some food ingredients,
• industrial mixture is a device to mix the materials of industrial scale,
• concrete mixture is a device to mix the concrete ingredients,
• micro mixture is a component used in chemistry,
• vortex mixture – a laboratory device, Carburettor a device to combine air and hydrocarbon, and feed mixture is a device to mix feed ingredients.

Working Principle of Mixer

Working principle remains same for all mixtures. Coming to cooking mixer, it mixes all spices, vegetables, and other food ingredients together. A food mixer consists of jars and inside every jar some blades are present. If you fix the jar to mixer and switch on the button, all blades in the jar start rotating and if you place any ingredients inside the jar, the things get mixed up. In almost all cases, the working principle is same.

Uses of the Mixer

Mixing the ingredients is possible even without using a mixer. However, it efficiently reduces human effort to mix the substances. mixer can be used in many operations as mentioned above.
